Best Places to Bike Ride with Kids?Submitted by marcy on February 16, 2010 - 11:53amNow that our two boys have learned to ride their bikes we're on the look out for good trails and safe places where we can take family rides. Portland is a very bike-centric city but not every trail is good for 5 year olds - some are too hilly, too crowded with runners or other cyclists, or just too dangerous. Luckily we found the article below before we set out to ride this weekend, listing a number of great trails for the 4-9 year old set. We tried a couple of them and had a great time. Families will have the opportunity for fun and prizes on Saturday February 20 at 11 a.m. when Borders in Bridgeport Village , 7227 S.W. Bridgeport Road , will hold a birthday party for Elmo, upstairs in the children’s department. Every February the furry red fellow from Sesame Street turns three, so we throw a party. Elmo will not be appearing at the party but we will host stories, crafts, games and prizes in his honor. This event is free and geared to preschoolers and everyone who loves Sesame Street . »
