San Francisco Bay Area Transplants?

Curious to know if anyone is out there from the SF Bay Area, specifically East Bay? Looking for a similiar resource for the Camas/Portland area like the Berkeley Parents Network... http://parents.berkeley.edu/, where I find everything from nannies to plumbers to painters all recommended by other parents in the area not sponsored by businesses. Will be moving to Camas by March 2009. Thanks!

Moving from LA to Portland? Rain?

My husband and I, as well as our 4 year old son, are in the midst of deciding to move to Portland or stay in LA. Personally, I'm concerned about moving from a place that is sunny on most days to one that is cloudy many, many days during the winter months. Does anyone have experience with coping/helpful tips/etc. Thanks in advance :-)
